• Board Certified in Clinical Chemistry, American Board of Clinical Chemistry

He was:

• Elected to Board of Directors, National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry
• Founder and Chairman of the Informatics Division, AACC, Current Chair
• Board member and Chief Science Officer of the CDID, AACC
• Current Chair, Texas Section of the AACC
• In 2008, received the Regents Award for Superior Professional and University Service
• In 2005, awarded outstanding Speaker Award by the leading Clinical Chemistry Association, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry.

Ken's work has been focused on biomarkers, point of care, and the use of laboratory information systems to improve the flow of patient information in the hospital and the clinical interpretation of patient test results. At OUMC, he has used information systems to build databases in cancer studies and other markers for their diagnostic and prognostic value. Ken has authored and co-authored over 300 articles in clinical chemistry and biomarkers and written a number of related book chapters throughout his 40 year career in the laboratory.
He has also authored a textbook titled, Principles of Clinical Chemistry.
